Springwood Meats started life as a wholesale concern, providing top quality meat and products to local butcher shops, cafes, pubs, schools and restaurants in September 2014.
In July 2015, we opened a small retail butcher’s shop to the public, here at our premises at Warner Drive, on the Springwood Industrial Estate in Braintree. Our location, out of the bustle of the town, keeps our overheads lower, enabling us to fulfil our ultimate commitment to our customers: providing the best quality meat at affordable prices. It also means there is plenty of parking available right outside! Don’t worry if you can’t get to the shop though – we also provide a free delivery service to Braintree and the surrounding areas.
Our butchers, Rick and Kayne have over 30 years of experience in the meat trade between them and will be able to answer any questions you have, make recommendations on which cuts to buy and will weigh out the exact quantity you need. If there is something special you require that we don’t have in stock, we’ll do our best to source it for you as quickly as possible.
All of our meat is sourced from either the world-renowned Smithfield Market or local suppliers. We prepare all our products on the premises, including our burgers and sausages, using only the leanest cuts of meat. We now offer a range of tasty “ready to cook” options, again made in the shop, ensuring we can guarantee the quality of our products.
About our butchers
Rick started in the butcher’s trade at the age of 15 as a Saturday boy at a butcher’s shop in Braintree. During his career he has gained extensive experience in all aspects of the meat industry from meat boning plants to wholesale catering businesses, working up to managing a ham production factory and wholesale business for Meat Inn butchers.
Kayne started his journey in the meat business at the age of 16 where he trained as a butcher at Direct Meats where he learnt all aspects of the industry, whilst Kayne was there he completed his level 3 in butchery and worked his way up to manager. As part of his role he worked in China as well as many places within the UK.
Tom is our newest member of staff and is currently on an apprenticeship in butchery taking his level 2.
